The Week in Review

This past week saw the Lady Rangers take on two District foes with some good results for the Lady Rangers.

JV took home two victories this week with wins over McNeil and Cedar Ridge. Outstanding performances by the Lady Rangers as goals were scored and clean sheets were kept.

In the Varsity contests, the Lady Rangers had a solid 3-0 victory over an improved McNeil team, with goals from Arden, Leah, and Liza.

Friday saw the Lady Rangers draw with the Lady Raiders in the Battle of the Ridges. A few shots were just off the mark as the Lady Rangers fought hard and battled a little short handed against a solid Cedar Ridge team.

Tremendous effort from the entire Program.

And Finally

District 25-6A is Tough. Really Tough. Not a single game is guaranteed. We have a chance to win every time we take the field, and yet, if not focused and prepared we could absolutly slip up and lose.

Soccer teaches so many life lessons. Being a Team member, having a role, being a part of something bigger than ourselves, and so many more.

But as we start to come to the end of the first round of district I want to focus on Preparation. As students you wouldn't study for a test and walk in unprepared and have expectations of doing well. As an employee you wouldn't show up to work with out being prepared to meet your work demands and expectations. The same goes for Soccer - However, it takes more preparation in soccer because you have to:

1) Prepare your bodies- Rest, Recovery, Treatments, Fitness, strength, etc... You have to be taking care of your selves. Eating well and fueling your bodies. Sleep and Stretching are vital to you performing at your best.

2) Prepare your minds- You must be focused on understanding your role and the tactics that are being employed during games. Different teams present different challenges. Therefore your roles within the team change slightly each and every game. You can no longer just kick and chase the ball like you used to do when you were younger. The game evolves as you get older and you having a better understanding of your roles and responsibilities will help you be more successful.

3) Prepare for the Opposition- You MUST watch film and prepare. You must study your opponents to know what they like to do and know how to stop them and then exploit their weaknesses. Watching film is crucial to your preparation. Everyone of you has access to HUDL. And HUDL also shows how much time you have spent logging in and studying film. If your profile says 0:00 time spent logged on and watching film then you are not only NOT preparing for the next game, you are not meeting the team standards and expectations. Good players and good teams watch the film the coach shows them. Great players and Great Teams are obsessed with watching film and preparing themselves.

We are currently sitting in 4th place in District. A good place to be to make the playoffs, but in a spot with slim margins in a tough district. Two big games this week. Let's go get 6 point!

Let's Go Lady Rangers!
